Seed Types

A seeded optimization can be based on one of the following types of seed:

  • Alignment seed - Refines an alignment generated by the Quantm Service or the Quantm Desktop optimizer. It also enables you to enter an alignment produced using a CAD package into the system for route comparison or a manually entered horizontal alignment.

  • Feature seed - Uses a linear feature object, such as an existing road or railway, as the seed.

  • Quick seed - Enables you to consider a possible corridor option that you may not otherwise have investigated. In Plan View, use the mouse to trace the path of a preliminary seed.
