Templates
Templates are defined sections of cross-sections for the proposed road or rail alignment. A template file is created for each project; these are stored in libraries that can be used globally, across the whole study area, or specific to a local default zone. You can select the templates to be used for the alignment when you define the geometric parameters and each geometric parameter type can have a unique template. See Geometry Data. As templates have costs that need to be defined in the Costing Parameters and then applied to the geometries after that, they should be the first thing that is defined in a scenario.
Tip: Use the libraries to manage different template data. For example, you may want to have a library for design standards on flat terrain and another for design standards on mountainous terrain.
View the Cross Section
On the Edit tab, click Cross Section. The Cross Section dialog appears.
In the Cross-Section Editor, you can:
Create, delete, and edit libraries.
Create, delete, and edit road and rail templates
View the template
At the bottom of the list of templates is the template view. This view shows the template as it is constructed from the centreline to the end of template.
There are several options attached to this view:
Flip view allows you to change the view from left to right.
View allows the view to be changed from in cut to in fill. The other will still be shown in the view, but it will be greyed.
V:H Ratio changes the V:H to exaggerate the vertical if desired.
Fit to view will return the view to fitting the whole half template being constructed.
