Alignment Summary
To view a summary of the construction quantities and costs for the selected alignment, click on the Alignment Summary in the Report tab.Â
The Alignment Summary dialog appears.
To report the costs and quantities with higher accuracy, change the significant figures in the Preference Settings dialog. See Appendix D.
The Alignment Review Summary window gives the alignment name and total cost at the top, then a detailed breakdown of construction parameters and costs that contribute to the overall cost. Generally, the window has quantities and costs divided into five main categories:
Source - any geological materials that can be used for construction including cut, tunnel debris, import or borrow material.
Destination - any geological materials which must be used or removed from the site including fill, export, and dump materials.
Alignment - which includes mass haul and pavement costs.
Structures - including bridges, tunnels, retaining walls, and culverts
Additional Costs - which include area or linear costs and additional fixed costs if included.
At the bottom of the Alignment Review summary window is a button and report on the number of Warnings present in the loaded alignment. Many of the items within the Alignment Review summary window are highlighted with a blue hyperlink. This hyperlink can be used to open a corresponding dialog box providing more detailed information on a given item. For more details, click any item that is underlined and a report window will open.
To see a full report that shows the volumes of cut used when constructing the alignment, and where cut was extracted, along with its type click Source:
To see the volume of material that was used as fill or removed from the site, click Destination:
To see the start, finish, and type of wall, the side of the alignment, length, area of wall, and cost, click Ret. Wall:
To see the start, finish, and type of culvert, the number of the alignment, the total length of channel required, and the cost (including portals), click Culvert:
To see the start, finish, and type of bridge, the length, area of decking, and cost, click Bridge:
To see the start, finish, and type of tunnel, the length, and cost (including portals), click Tunnel:
To see the area, and cost of each type of Area cost zone encountered, click Footprint Area
The areas and costs are summed over all zones of a given type.
The Footprint Area shown in the Area cost summary dialog is the area underneath the earthworks (when earthworks exist) plus the area of the pavement when the alignment is on a bridge or in a tunnel, plus the area of any margin. Because area cost zones can overlap and a margin is included when calculating the areas, the sum of the areas in the Area cost summary can exceed the area shown in the Alignment Review Summary.
To see the start, finish, length, and cost of each encounter with a Linear cost zone, click Linear:
Multiple encounters with a single zone will produce multiple entries.
To see a summary of the fixed costs, select Fixed Cost:
To see the type, start, finish, and severity of any warnings, in the Alignment Review Summary dialog, click : (icon)
