Import a Reference Alignment

Rail alignments can be imported using the LandXML format to represent earthworks and derive earthwork volumes and mass haul. This is particularly useful when comparing design alignments to a design model to identify where any changes may have occurred and, also for conflict resolution in regard to earthworks for projects.

Before importing a reference alignment for earthwork comparison in Quantm the user will have to import the DTM. See Quantm Projects for importing and creating projects.

Note: How Quantm generates the models: if a TIN model is used to generate the reference surface in Quantm there could be a risk of some differences between the TIN and the grid surface created in Quantm. This may appear in the earthwork comparisons.
