Unseeded Optimization

An unseeded optimization searches the entire study area. For this optimization, the Quantm service will generate up to 50 alignments and the local optimization using Quantm Desktop will generate up to 25 alignments; from which you can identify the most promising corridors.

An unseeded optimization does not provide the focus of a seeded optimization. Also, you are likely to be better acquainted with a tightly defined corridor than with a large study area.

Tip: In a 'greenfield project', it is common to start with an unseeded optimization and to proceed to seeded optimization as the most promising corridors emerge. In studies where the corridor is already set, unseeded optimization may not be required as the corridor is already defined.
