Cross-Section Reports

The Cross-section Report creates a CSV, DXF, or HTML file that includes:

When the cross-section report is exported in CSV format, it first provides a summary of the alignment which was exported including the date and time of the export command. The summary includes the name of the Project, the Project ID, Scenario name, and Alignment name. The remainder of the report provides the XYZ locations of the alignment and cross-section values. The first line for each reporting interval gives the chainage (Distance), easting (X), northing (Y), and altitude of the alignment (Z) and whether it is in earthworks or structure at that point (Cross Section Status):

The absolute elevations of the natural land surface, turning points on the earthworks, and edges of the pavement are provided with accompanying widths (the distance from the origin to the point on the cross-section):

The files are formatted to enable plotting with the graphing facilities in the spreadsheet:

When the report is exported in DXF format a CAD file will be created with displays of the cross sections in a vertical group with the corresponding chainage indicated next to the appropriate diagram.

When the report is exported in HTML format, Quantm Desktop software will generate screen grabs of the Cross Section window at the given chainages (stationing). The resulting file will be an HTML document that will link to a series of BMP images for each cross-section interval.

By scrolling down the HTML page you can view each of the cross-section images generated with their corresponding alignment information.

By clicking the ‘Click here to view cross-section slide’ hyperlink the HTML document will move to a single cross-section display view in which you can view cross sections by either:

By checking the Automatic check box on the HTML document will commence cycling through the cross-section images automatically at approximately a two-second interval.
