Project View
Start by clicking the Quantm icon in the top left corner. Here you can open an existing project or create a new project. See Quantm Projects. The Project view appears when a project is open and shows all scenarios in the project. In Quantm, scenarios contain a set of constraints that are used for processing. Each scenario is made up of four data files:
Digital Terrain Model
Geometric parameters for the alignment, including maximum grades, minimum curves, superelevation, and road templates
Cost parameters associated with the project, including costs to move different materials and costs to build infrastructure
Feature data in the study area, including existing roads, rivers, areas that the new alignment should avoid, and areas within the study area that have different geology or require different design constraints
Scenario Tree list
The Scenario Tree list is always displayed in the Project view and displays all the scenarios for the project as folders. These folders are arranged in user-defined groups. Notes about the scenario are displayed in the bottom section of the Project Explorer window.
Tip: The Scenario Tree list can be resized and undocked.
A scenario is locked when its data has ever been used in the optimization of an alignment regardless of whether or not the submission is processed. The reason for this is this allows a direct relationship between a scenario and its results that can't be changed so when going back to the scenario the constraints, costs, and volumes will be the same as they were when they were processed.Â
In the Scenario Tree list a scenario can be in one of the following states:
A closed yellow folder indicates that the scenario is unlocked and can be edited as no submissions have been made in it yet.
A closed gray folder indicates that the scenario is locked and cannot be edited as a submission has been made against the scenario.
An open gray folder indicates that the scenario is locked and cannot be edited, however, there are results that have not yet been viewed. The name of the scenario will also be shown in bold text when there are results that have not yet been viewed.
If you expand a scenario you see that the data files, other than the DTM, behave in the same way as the scenario, where they can be either unlocked (when no submission has been made using that data file) or locked (where a submission has been made using the data file).
